Andrey Mitin, Russia U16 Head coach:
- We have created a lot of goalscoring opportunities in this game and we should have scored 4-5 goals but managed to score only once. It was partly due to lack of appropriate prowess, and partly due the fact that the guys have just returned from their vacations and haven’t gained the relevant sports form yet – therefore, we could see wrong decisions and low speed. The only goal in the match was scored by Kutovoy who picked up the ball after the cross pass and managed to kick the ball over the Bulgarian goalkeeper.
We had the complete advantage in the first half but after the break the opponent switched on and we conceded the initiative a bit. At the same time Bulgaria managed to create the only goalscoring chance after the corner during the whole match. No doubt, we should have defined the result of the match in advance as there is certain concern at the end of the match when the score is 1:0. Nevertheless, we managed to claim the victory. Tomorrow, we have the match versus the Czech Republic that lost to the hosts in their opener at the tournament.
