Training for steward coaches

On 17 - 21 February under UEFA and FUR joint project the training programme in which trainers and steward service companies  are being prepared to coach stadium stewards who are deployed at RFPL and FNL matches took place in Moscow at the Swiss Hotel Krasnye Kholmy conference hall.

The training course was attended by UEFA Executive Committee member and UEFA Stadium and Security Committee deputy chairman František Laurinec, UEFA Head of Stadia Security Mark Timmer, UEFA Experts Steve Frosdick, Fivos Konstantinidis and Jed Pointon. FUR First Vice-president Nikita Simonyan addressed the participants with the welcome on behalf of the Football Union of Russia followed by Alexey Tolkachev, FUR Head of Security and Fans relations.

The relevance of the programme is based on the orders issued by the Russian Sports Ministry stipulating that the steward training is the responsibility of all-Russian and regional sports federations.

Under UEFA and FUR joint project the participants of the course learnt the European experience compiled by UEFA in ensuring safety and security; studied the latest amendments to the Russian legislation in this domain; shared personal knowledge as well as had an opportunity to watch the steward service in practice. FUR Head of Control and Disciplinary Committee Artur Grigoryants made a presentation on discrimination at football matches and spoke on stewards’ role in eliminating this problem.

After the final attestation all the participants of the course were awarded with the certificates of their qualification in this domain.
