FUR celebrates 105th anniversary
Today is the 105th anniversary of establishing the first official national football body. On 19 January 1912 in Saint-Petersburg there was taken the decision to establish the all-Russian Football Union. FUR would like to congratulate everyone associated with football with this anniversary!All together we will keep on working for the benefit of the Russian football! On this day we shall recollect the rich and glorious history of our football, our legendary football officials, players and coaches who made invaluable contribution to the development of the game. The main milestones of the Russian football history 24 October 1897 - the kick-off point of the Russian football. First registered football match of Russian football teams («Saint-Petersburg club of sports lovers» - «Vasileostrovsky football players society», 0:6).
19 January 1912 - Establishment of the first official national football body - the all-Russian Football Union.
30 June 1912 - All-Russian Football Union admitted to FIFA 19-25 July 1920 - RSFSR first football championship.
3-9 September 1923 - USSR first football championship 16 November 1924 - USSR first official international match versus Turkey in Moscow, the score 3:0 17 August 1928 - the launch of the first stadium matching international requirements (Dinamo stadium in Moscow) 27 December 1934 - Establishment of the USSR Football Section (since 26 May 1959 - USSR Football Federation).
15 June 1954 - the USSR football section admitted to UEFA 8 December 1956 - the USSR wins the football tournament of the Olympic Games in Melbourne.
10 July 1960 - the USSR wins the first ever UEFA European Championship 27 May 1964 - USSR goalkeeper Lev Yashin is awarded the Golden Ball as the best European player.
21 June 1964 - the USSR finish as the runners-up at the UEFA European Championship.
28 July 1966 - the fourth place of the USSR team at the FIFA World Cup (the best result ever) 18 June 1972 - the USSR finish as the runners-up at the UEFA European Championship.
14 May 1975 - FC Dinamo Kiev gets the UEFA Cup Winners Cup (the first victory of the Soviet clubs in the UEFA competitions.
6 October 1975 - FC Dinamo Kiev gets the UEFA Super Cup.
30 December 1975 - USSR forward Oleg Blokhin is awarded the Golden Ball as the best European player.
13 May 1981 - FC Dinamo Tbilissi gets the UEFA Cup Winners Cup.
2 May 1986 - FC Dinamo Kiev gets the UEFA Cup Winners Cup 30 December 1986 - USSR forward Igor Belanov is awarded the Golden Ball as the best European player 25 June 1988 - the USSR finish as the runners-up at the UEFA European Championship.
1 October 1988 - the USSR wins the football tournament of the Olympic Games in Seoul 8 February 1992 - Establishment of the Football Union of Russia as the legal successor of the all-Russian Football Union and the USSR Football Federation 29 March 1992 - The kick-off of the Russian Football Championship 24 April 1996 - The third rank of the Russian National team (the best result ever) in the FIFA Ranking 24 October 1997 - 100th Anniversary of Russian Football 18 May 2005 - FC CSKA Moscow wins the UEFA Cup 2005.
14 May 2008 - FC Zenit Saint-Petersburg wins the UEFA Cup 2008.
26 June 2008 - Russia finished the third at the UEFA EURO 2008 29 August 2008 - FC Zenit Saint-Petersburg wins the UEFA Super Cup 2008.
2 December 2010 - Russia is awarded the right to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup 11 September 2011 - Russia wins the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2011 19 January 2012 - 100th Anniversary of establishing FUR (all-Russian Football Union).
